The Okavango Delta, a river that disappears before it reaches the ocean, is one of Botswana's biggest tourist attractions and amongst the many creatures that make it their home are Nile crocodiles (Crocodylus niloticus), illustrated on two from four stamps in this set. Its good to see reptiles being promoted positively from a tourist standpoint. 1992
An attractive set of four stamps, although two names have changed since 1991 ie. Hyperolius marmoratus angolensis is now Hyperolius parallelus angolensis and Bufo fenoulheti is now Poyntonophrynus fenoulheti. The reed frog identified only to genus as Hyperolius sp. appears closest to the speckled type of the highly variable Marbled reed frog H.marmoratus but with seven confirmed Botswanan species in this genus and many more in the surrounding countries, it is difficult to be certain, hence the cf. for 'confer' = most like. 1998

Two of four stamps feature herpetological subjects: Painted reed frog (Hyperolius sp.) until a stamps can be viewed it cannot be determined whether this is H.marmoratus or H.pictus, both of which have received that common name, and Nile crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus).
2001
One of four stamps features a Pygmy falcon (Polihierax semitorquatus) with a small skink or lacertid in its beak - nature raw in tooth and claw, and beak.
2002
Four very subtle and attractive stamps featuring four iconic venomous snakes from within the borders of Botswana. Presumably the second names in the captions are the Setswana names for these snakes. View the First Day covers for these stamps
