One of four stamps with marine subjects, features a 'scaly' turtle but which sea turtle this supposed to be has yet to determined. 1977
Six stamps featuring endangered animals, not necessarily from the Comoros Islands, the one herpetological stamp illustrating a giant tortoise which, given the Indian Ocean location of the Comoro Islands, should be an Aldabran giant tortoise (Dipsochelys dussumieri) but as one of the other animals is a Galapagos penguin, it is quite possible the tortoise is intended to be a Galapagos giant tortoise (Chelonoides nigra). The caption 'Tortue geante Afrique' leans more towards an Aldabran.

A nice set of six stamps and a minisheet featuring frogs of mainland Africa, from West and Central Africa (Hairy frog Trichobatrachus robustus and Goliath frog Conraua goliath) to South Africa (African bullfrog Pyxicephalus adspersus and Common platanna Xenopus laevis).
A complimentary set fearuring day geckos, although the design is different. A minisheet contains five stamps, four purporting to be of the Comoro day gecko (Phelsuma comoroensis) and one of the Madagascan day gecko (P.madagascarensis) which also appears on the border, and on the second minisheet. There is considerable variation in the geckos protrayed with classic green specimens, with red stripes, to pale yellow-green or orange geckos. The genus Phelsuma contains 46 species, albeit some are extinct, and precise identification from photographs can be difficult without precise locality data, so identification from artistic representations may be even more difficult.
