PAPUA NEW GUINEA SNAKEBITE PROJECT
THE HEAVENS OPEN
Good thing about rain though, when it stops it often brings out the snakes.
They continued until well after dark but the trenches held it back so that the science area (and my living quarters) were only slightly flooded. While Ben cooked rice for our evening meal Jasper and I went out to see if any snakes were abroad due to the rain. Nothing was found so we returned to camp.

A little later I stepped out from under the tarpaulin and almost stepped on a Common ground snake (Stegonotus parvus) which was certainly was out and about.
