PAPUA NEW GUINEA (Oro Province)

PAPUA NEW GUINEA SNAKEBITE PROJECT
HEROPA

In the early afternoon we gave up and headed back to Higatura where I now had a large number of by-catch species to photograph and document. Amongst the frogs from under the palm fronds were the Papuan direct-breeding frog (Platymantis papuensis), a couple of interesting little microhylids without common names: Austrochaperina sp. and Mantophryne lateralis, and a small myobatrachid Papuan fanged frog (Lechriodus melanppyga). The lizards included the Pelagic gecko (Nactus pelagicus), Jobi skink (Sphenomorphus jobiensis) and the Blue-tailed skink (Emoia caeruleocauda).
