PAPUA NEW GUINEA (Oro Province)

PAPUA NEW GUINEA SNAKEBITE PROJECT
SANGARA BONANZA

First capture in the palm frond rubbish was a live Long-tailed keelback, followed soon afterwards by a Ground snake (Stegonotus sp.), a small Bevel-nosed boa (Candoia paulsoni mcdowelli), a small Common treesnake (Dendrelaphis punctulatus) and another Long-tailed keelback. Then came a Müller's crowned snake (Aspidomorphus muelleri) which Ben caught and gave to our snake-nervous driver Hayward to carry over to me, held firmly behind the head.
"Poison snake" I said, wondering if he knew.
"Yes" he nodded so after the handover I congratulated him on his new found bravery.
