After 'roughing it'in the Bhitakarnika swamp for several days, a little luxury at the end of the shoot did not go amiss. We spent three nights at the new and rather plush, if almost empty and incompletely finished, Mayfair Lagoon Hotel where our Orissa fixer, Sundeep Bhatt, was assistant manager.
The hotel had extremely comfortable rooms and intreguing grounds.

We used the Mayfair Lagoon as our base for filming in Patia village to the north of Bhubaneswar, and also a trip to the zoo where I aimed to photograph some of the Orissa species we had not seen in the wild.

At Nandanakan Zoo at Bhubaneswar I photographed Indian starred tortoise (Geochelone elegans), Indian rock python (Python molurus), Banded krait (Bungarus fasciatus) and South Asian Russell's viper (Daboia russelii).
