A pair of every attractive stamps featuring the only snakes that come onto land on mainland New Caledonia, the Blue-ringed sea krait (Laticauda laticaudata) and an endemic sea krait, formerly treated as a popualtion of the wide-spread Colubrine sea krait (L.colubrina) which was described as a new species (L.saintgironsi) as recently as 2006. Both these species were encountered during filming of Devil in the Trees (OBA Ser.2).

A pair of nice stamps illustrating two of the many endemic geckos on New Caledonia, the tiny Saugave's bavayia (Bavayia sauvagii) and Leach's giant gecko (Rhacodactyluis leachianus) the largest living gecko in the world. The latter was the main quest species for Devil in the Trees (OBA Ser.2).

A single stamp illustrating the small, extinct terrestrial Australasian crocodile Mekosuchus inexpectatus, which inhabited New Caledonia from the Holocene until 4,000 years ago when man arrived on the islands. Three other species are known from Vanuatu and Australia.

A single stamp illustrating Meiolania (etm. small roamer), an extinct genus of horned tortoise from the Cryptodira (straight-necked turtles) that existed from the Oligocene to the Holocene in Australia but survived on New Caledonia until 2,000 years ago. At 2.5m carapace length, this is the second largest non-marine testudine known. There are three species described from fossil remains with M.mackayi recorded from New Caledonia.

A 100F stamp and a 140F minisheet commemorating 2001, the Chinese Year of the Snake, on which the three snakes can be fairly easily identified as a New Caledonian sea krait (Laticauda saintgironsi), Blue-ringed sea krait (Laticauda laticaudata) and a cobra (Naja sp.), but only thesea kraits are resident in New Caledonia.
