PAPUA NEW GUINEA (Central Province)

PAPUA NEW GUINEA SNAKEBITE PROJECT
THE SPECIES COUNT RISES

Jasper missed another Papuan taipan (Oxyuranus scutellatus canni) a large specimen that saw him the same time he saw it, and took off at speed so he only got the tongs to its tail.

By now I had a great many species to identify, photograph, document, and in a few cases preserve as vouchers. I was deep into the photography when Jasper arrived from Edevu bearing gifts - SP Beer!

A welcome reward for hard work - SP Beer

In the evening we went out hed-torching for snakes, but none were in evidence.
