PAPUA NEW GUINEA (Central Province)

PAPUA NEW GUINEA SNAKEBITE PROJECT
BACK TO EXXONMOBIL

The sun was now up so we left the site and went to recce some of the habitat beyond Frog Pond outside the perimeter of the ExxonMobil site. Driving the perimeter fence and spooking a Two-striped dragon (Lophognathus temporalis) we found several expanses of good blacksnake country that included billabongs, and then further on we came to mangrove swamp where I would like to find some of the rear-fanged mangrove mud snakes (Fordonia, Myron, maybe even Cerberus) in the evening.

The billabongs beyond the perimeter fence
and the mangrove swamps
only a stones throw from the ExxonMobil instalation

Then it was back to town where I had a lot of specimen work to catch up, I had a day off yesterday remember, so I worked quite late into the evening.
