LAST DAY AT THE BISHOP

Today was my last day working on specimens at the Bishop Museum, Honolulu. I worked through the Micropechis (New Guinea small-eyed snakes) and then turned my attention to other specimens of interest from New Guinea, plus some specimens connected to our field work in Timor-Leste. I was at the museum from 07:00-18:00 so I really did get a lot of work done, it was a successful day.

Amongst the other New Guinea specimens I examined were the holotype and paratype of the Rossel Is. blindsnake (Gerrhophilus hades) and the holotype and only known specimen of Dolas' keelback (Tropidonophis dolasii). I also examined and photographed a specimen of Cantor's watersnake (Cantoria violacea), the only snake species reported from Timor-Leste which we have so far failed to find in nine phases of the reptile and amphibian survey. I also put names to a few unidentified snakes in the collection , including a few seasnakes and watersnakes.
