THE GERMAN TEAM ARRIVES

With sightseeing done for the day, there was one tradition left: trying durian and other fruits at the street fair near our hotel. This group was surprisingly robust when it came to the taste and smell of “The King of Fruits,” with nobody gagging or holding their nose, but there were no takers for seconds. On the other hand, one kilogram each of mangosteens and rambutans were consumed quickly and with delightful noises.

The area was colorfully decorated because Aidalfritri, an important Islamic holiday, is only a few days away. This made for a festive atmosphere enjoyed by all.
