NORFOLK ISLAND

Norfolk Island is an Australian External Territory located in the Pacific Ocean
1,412 km2 east of Australia and 900 km northwest of Lord Howe Island.
The Territory of Norfolk Island also includes its neighbouring islands, Philip Island and Napean Island.
It was settled by the British in 1788 as part of the settlement of Australia and was handed over to
Australia for management from 1914 until 1960 when local government was established.

Norfolk Island has issued stamps since 1947, including a number of herpetological issues
featuring its endangered endemic reptiles.
