Seven species of turtles and tortoises, one species of caiman, two species of amphisbaenians (worm-lizards), and 22 species of lizards were recorded from Ilha Maracá.

Yellow-spotted river turtle,
Podocnemis unifilis, very hard to catch.
Spectacled caiman, Caiman crocodilus, in the river and the lagoon.
White worm-lizard,
Amphisbaena alba, lives in leaf-cutter ant nests.
Maracá leaf-litter gecko, Coleodactylus septentrionalis, the island is its type locality.
Carvalho's blue-tailed skink, Mabuya carvalhoi, the island is its type locality.
Green iguana, Iguana iguana, common in trees along the river.
