Amphibia: Frogs

Three frog species were collected and identified during the survey period, all from same family, Pyxicephalidae. An additional species was identified from a photograph taken in the months leading up to the survey and one more species has been documented subsequently. These species are included in a separate section.

Pyxicephalidae:

Cacosternum boettgeri - Boettger's dainty frog
A small and widepread species expected to occur throughout Namibia, on specimen was collected at location P, Sonop Old Reservoir, the header reservoir for an artificial game waterhole.

Tomopterna krugerensis - Knocking sand frog
A savanna frog found from the Kruger national Park to northern Namibia, a single specimen was found in Drift Fence A at location E.

Tomopterna tandyi - Tandys sand frog
An inhabitant of arid areas in southern Africa, three specimens were found in leaf-litter at location P, Sonop Old Reservoir.
